Private Tour Description
Visit with our private tour the Amalfi Coast, a place where the sweetness and the roughness of the territory combine to create one of the most fascinating tourist destinations in the world.
The "Amalfi Drive" is said to be the most spectacular in Europe and from Sorrento the winding cliff top road offers breathtaking panoramic views at every turn. Each spot is a world of its own which dazzles the imagination.
The tour will start from your hotel or the indicated meeting point. During the first part of the day, we will pass the famous and romantic Positano where we will stop at the “Belvedere” to admire the spectacular view, then we will continue our journey passing through Praiano, a beautiful town whose name comes from the ancient “Pelagianum” which means “open sea”.
Then we will arrive in Amalfi, which gives its name to the whole coast on which it lies. This was once a thriving Marine Republic, powerful and prosperous, and now it is a thriving holiday resort.
The unmistakeable cluster of white tightly packed houses rising up the hillside is dominated by the beautiful Cathedral which stands superbly on the top of a great flight of steps leading up from the main square. Housed in the magnificent Cathedral are the remains of the Patron Saint of Amalfi, and also of Scotland, Saint Andrew. Then you’ll free time to have lunch.
The tour will continue towards Ravello, town about 300 meters above the sea, where the available time will be dedicated to having lunch and to discover the medieval village. In this delightful little town, you will visit the Cathedral of St. Pantaleone, beautiful Romanesque church with two precious medieval pulpits (Ambon) and the medieval Villa Rufolo with its breathtaking views, which was a source of inspiration for many artists including Richard Wagner. Indeed, to commemorate the presence of the German composer, every year the villa hosts a music festival in his honour.
In the end, we will return to Sorrento by following the Chiunzi valley road and the motorway.
