Explore the beautiful island of Ischia, its relaxing thermal baths and its characteristic villages, like Sant’ Angelo, for an immersive trip in beauty and peace.
Pick up from your hotel or the established meeting place, then we continue towards the port of Sorrento and board the fast boat. After about 50 minutes, we will reach the port of Ischia where you’ll be led though a bus tour of ¾ of the island.
Ischia is known as the Green Isle because of its lush green vegetation and it is also the only place in the area with real sandy beaches.
The first stop of our tour is the "Belvedere", where you will sample local products and admire the magnificent panorama of the "Bay of Citara”. Then we will stop in the village of Sant’ Angelo where you will have free time with the possibility of staying on the beach. Sant'Angelo d'Ischia is a small fishing village, south of the island and has always radiated a special charm on its tourists, forever in search of a charming “uncontaminated and primitive” corner.
During the stop at Sant’Angelo, you can decide whether to bathe in hot springs or visit the famous gardens of Lady Walton, “La Mortella”, named this way after the wild myrtles that were growing there, where there are around 800 varieties of tropical and Mediterranean plants. It is possible to visit the villa where Lay Walton and her husband, Sir William Walton, lived for nearly three decades until his death on 8th March 1983. Sir William Walton was one of the greatest contemporary British composers and, after his death, his ashes were buried here, in a rock on the promontory about 120 meters from sea level.
The garden, started in 1956, was created on the site of a gigantic stone quarry, and was designed by English landscape designer Russell Page. Extending over an area of 16,000 square metres, these beautifully landscaped gardens, complete with pools and fountains, have thousands of unusual, rare specimens of Mediterranean climate plants from around the world.
You will get 2 to 3 hours to visit the gardens and fully admire their beauty, before having some free time for lunch.
Then, you’ll be brought back to Ischia port in time for the 5.20 pm boat back to Sorrento. This is the only boat back to Sorrento from Ischia.
Return to hotel approximately around 7.00-7.30 pm.
